“I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers.  I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.  I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe.  That power is like the working of his mighty strength which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms.” Ephesians 1:16- 20 (NIV)


The scriptures are God-breathed and are useful for instruction and teaching.  Below we have taken a few very powerful Bible scriptures and provided examples for you to use in your prayer life.  Each version has 2 examples, one to use when praying in faith for yourself, another to use in intercession for a loved-one.   These are only a handful, many more examples can be found in God’s Word.

Scriptures As Prayers

For example:


“I keep asking that You, heavenly Father, the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, my glorious Father, may give me the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that I may know You better.  I pray also that the eyes of my heart may be enlightened in order that I may know the hope to which You have called me, the riches of Your glorious inheritance in the saints, and Your incomparably great power for me, who believes.  That power is like the working of Your mighty strength which You exerted in Christ when You raised him from the dead and seated him at Your right hand in the heavenly realms.”


An example to be used in praying for someone else:


“I have not stopped giving thanks for _______, remembering him(her) in my prayers.  I keep asking that You heavenly Father, the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, my glorious Father, may give _______ the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that _______ may know You better.  I pray also that the eyes of _____’s heart may be enlightened in order that ______ may know the hope to which You have called him/her/them, the riches of Your glorious inheritance in the saints, and Your incomparably great power for ______, who believes.  That power is like the working of Your mighty strength which You exerted in Christ when You raised him from the dead and seated him at Your right hand in the heavenly realms.”


“For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.  And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge- that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.”  Ephesians 3:14- 19 (NIV)



For example:


“For this reason, I kneel before the Father, from whom the whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name.  I pray that out of Your glorious riches You may strengthen me with power through Your Spirit in my inner being, so that Christ may dwell in my heart through faith.  And I pray that, being rooted and established in love, I may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge- that I may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of You, Lord God.”


An example to be used in praying for someone else:


“For this reason, I kneel before the Father, from whom the whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name.  I pray that out of Your glorious riches You may strengthen ___________ with power through Your Spirit in ________’s  inner being, so that Christ may dwell in _________’s heart through faith.  And I pray that _________, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge- that _________ may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.”



“And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ- to the glory and praise of God” Philippians 1:9-11 (NIV)



For example:


“I pray that my love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that I may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ- to the glory and praise of God.”


An example to be used in praying for someone else:


“And this is my prayer: that _______’s love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that __________ may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ- to the glory and praise of God.”




“For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light.  For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins” Colossians 1:9- 14 (NIV).




For example:


“I keep praying and asking You, heavenly Father, to fill me with the knowledge of Your will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding, and I pray this in order that I may live a life worthy of You, Lord, and may please You in every way bearing fruit in every in every good work, growing in the knowledge of you, being strengthened with all power according to Your glorious might so that I may have great endurance and patience, and that I will joyfully give thanks to You, Father, because You want to qualify me to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of lights.  For You have rescued me from the dominion of darkness and brought me into the kingdom of the Son You love, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”


An example to be used in praying for someone else:


“I keep praying for _________ and asking You, heavenly Father, to fill __________ with the knowledge of Your will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding, and I pray this in order that ____________ may live a life worthy of You, Lord, and may please You in every way bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of you, being strengthened with all power according to Your glorious might so that __________  may have great endurance and patience, and that _________ will joyfully give thanks to You, Father, because You want to qualify __________ to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of lights.  For You have rescued __________ from the dominion of darkness and brought ___________ into the kingdom of the Son You love, in whom __________ has redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”
